Don’t Jerk and Drive

‘Tis the season for Christmas lights and mince pies! Unfortunately, ‘tis also the season for icy roads and snowstorms. So the American Department of Public Safety thought they’d put together a little video campaign to remind us how to stay safe while driving – they called it “Don’t Jerk and Drive’. Watch the video here

Predictably, this proper driving campaign has already made headlines, grabbing the attention of drivers everywhere, and even stirring up a few prudish feelings in those that can’t handle double meaning in their driving instructions.

South Dakota has already pulled the plug on this video and has refused to broadcast it to their audience claiming the risqué ad would distract drivers from the real message.

Public Safety Director Trevor Jones, said the decision to block the ad from airing on TV and in social media was made because he “Doesn’t want innuendo to pull focus from the main message of saving lives on the road.”

They’re not the only ones who seem to be a little too immature to handle a well-placed joke. Viewers all over the web have taken to posting silly comments in response to the public safety announcement. Here are just a few such responses:

Drivers should have the situation in hand, at all times!

[Tweet “Drivers should have the situation in hand, at all times!”]

As a former BIG truck driver I have observed several drivers jerking on the road …. chuckle , chuckle !

Guess they couldn’t let people decide for themselves if they were … Coming or going ?

Safety first friends! Hope this little video pops up in your mind next time you’re behind the wheel and feel the urge to… jerk.

I’m as pure as the driven slush.
