Successful Casual Dating
Every date begins with a ‘hello’. However, what goes on after that point depends on what the people involved are looking for. While some are in the dating arena with the intention of finding a serious, committed relationship, others are simply looking for an opportunity to meet new people and enjoy going places with someone – no strings attached. If you are in the latter group and are most interested in casual dating, a short-term hookup or even a one night stand, be sure to follow these Etiquette guidelines. Even a brief encounter calls for some level of manners.
Don’t lie about your intentions. Unless you find your playmate on an adult dating site such as Randy Rabbits, where users are encouraged to be open about their sexual intentions, you may need to carefully sort through women in person. It’s a little tough to meet someone at a coffee shop for the first time and say, “Hey, I just want to get laid”. You are most likely to get a scalding cup of java thrown in your face. However, if that is really what you want, and you don’t want any emotional entanglements, then you need to be honest about that. This will ensure that that other person understands the ground rules and the likelihood of someone getting burned is reduced.
Don’t let your eyes wander. Even if you are just casually dating and still open to meeting other friends with benefits, stay focused on your current date when you are out. You both know that you are there for sex dating; however, it is not polite to openly scan the scene for additional lovers while you are getting the current one warmed up.
Keep your eye off the clock. While some people may want to fill their calendar and get as many illicit encounters in as humanly possible, it’s not a good plan. The person you are with doesn’t want to feel as if you are rushing through the motions so that you can get out the door in record time. Being rushed is rarely fun. Casual dating is intended to be fun. The two just don’t mix.
Make a clean exit. Casual dating gives you the opportunity to meet many people. When this happens, it’s very likely that eventually you will find someone you would like to have a more serious relationship with. If this happens, don’t hesitate to finalize your past dating schedule so that you can open up the possibility of a future with this one special person. If you started the relationships right, then you should be able to end it with very little drama. Let the others down gently and then move forward. You don’t want any baggage on this trip.
Finally, other normal dating etiquette applies. Whoever schedules the date should pick up the bill. When you meet, greet the person with a hug or a handshake. Don’t expect to just grunt and jump in the sack…at least not all the time!
